Play Therapy using Theraplay Principles

The focus of this play therapy is attachment, and assists and supports parents in learning and practicing how to provide playful, engaged, empathetic, and responsive support to their children to achieve secure attachments and positive mental health. This form of play therapy engages children in interactions that lead to competence, self-regulation, self-esteem, and trust.

Animal-Assisted Child Play Therapy

This Child Play therapy supports children’s psychosocial, emotional and mental health and well-being through the therapeutic powers of play. Our child Play Therapy is supported by our trained therapy dogs, who are approved through Therapy Dogs Australia; Lizzy or Archie will be involved when an assessment of the child’s response to the dog is made. Animal Assisted Interventions (AAI) have significant benefits for many clients with disabilities, trauma backgrounds and other mental health disorders.

Trauma-Informed Individual & Group Therapy

Trauma Focused Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is available for parents, families, and other cohorts to support change in behaviours and thinking to improve mental health and well-being.

Parenting Capacity & Education (including Parenting under Pressure)

A range of approaches to support parents, foster and kinship carers,
partners, and other family members to increase skills, strategies, and
capacity to understand the neurology, biology and psychology and the
impacts on their children’s developmental domains. This service is
focused on family and placement preservation.

Narrative & Therapeutic Storytelling

A therapeutic opportunity for children to externalise their fears and worries using linguistics without blame and shame, and instead offers a more play-based process of separating problems from the child. This process facilitates the child be innovative and creative in how they can deal with their worries in place of the immobilising impacts that problems can create.
