RaFS (Youth Justice)

RaFS (Youth Justice)

Unique Minds Consultancy employs expert crossover children’s workers to engage children who are involved in the statutory care and the juvenile justice system and from the point of entry into the youth detention facility the worker is focused o re-integration of the young person back into the community.

Work with parents who are incarcerated occurs to reduce police and statutory organisation bias and to mitigate impacts of pro criminal households. Culture, gender and a community focus are priority areas along with tackling mental health and substance misuse issues to mitigate further harm, and to encourage sustainability of young people becoming a resource within their community, maintaining hope and building wellbeing and resilience.

Reduction in the school to prison pipeline is an attainable outcome when young people who are caught in the crossfire of three systems, child protection, youth justice and education become supported, engage in healing ad recovery programs and have a felt sense of safety and belonging.

Unique Minds Consultancy has the skilled staff, capacity and up to date research knowledge to apply to children and young people at risk of entering the adult prison system through our  early intervention, and diversionary RaFS approach.
